LMR-240UF Ultra-Flexible Coax Cable — High Performance Without the Bulk

Upgrade your coax without dealing with the size and stiffness of traditional heavy coax. LMR-240UF (Ultra-Flex) is an excellent choice for CB, 10-meter, amateur radio, scanner, and other RF installations where you want lower signal loss, excellent flexibility, and a manageable cable size.

Compared with common RG-58, RG-8X, and traditional RG-8, LMR-240UF provides an excellent combination of performance and ease of installation.

Why choose LMR-240UF?

  • Lower loss than RG-58 and RG-8X — More of your transmitter's power reaches the antenna, and more received signal reaches your radio.
  • Similar convenient size to RG-8X — LMR-240UF is approximately 1/4-inch diameter, making it much easier to route than large coax such as RG-213.
  • Ultra-Flexible construction — The stranded center conductor and flexible jacket make LMR-240UF especially well suited for mobile installations, jumpers, base-station equipment, and locations requiring tight bends.
  • 50-ohm impedance — Designed for RF applications including CB, 10-meter and amateur radio equipment.
  • Excellent upgrade for RG-58 and RG-8X installations — Get improved transmission-line performance without jumping to a much larger cable.

LMR-240UF vs. RG-213

RG-213 is an excellent, proven heavy-duty coax and remains a good choice for longer permanent base-station installations. However, it is approximately 0.405 inch in diameter, compared with roughly 0.240 inch for LMR-240UF.

That makes LMR-240UF substantially smaller and easier to route through vehicles, radio cabinets, equipment racks and other confined spaces.

At CB frequencies around 27 MHz, RG-213 and LMR-240UF are both capable low-loss transmission lines. RG-213's larger conductor and heavier construction make it attractive for demanding fixed installations, while LMR-240UF offers an outstanding balance of low loss, small diameter and flexibility.

The Bottom Line

If you're currently using RG-58 or RG-8X, LMR-240UF is an excellent upgrade when you want to reduce coax loss without installing bulky 0.400-inch cable.

If you're considering RG-213, LMR-240UF gives you a much smaller, more flexible cable while retaining very good RF performance.
